Costs & Fees
The Pro Bono Project does not charge clients any fees for our services. However, you may be responsible for certain expenses related to your case, such as court filing fees or mailing costs, which are paid directly to third parties — not to us.
Court costs and fees are set by the court, not The Pro Bono Project. When possible, we will request a filing fee deferral (in forma pauperis or “IFP” status) so you can file without paying upfront. Please note this is not a waiver — you may still be required to pay these fees later.
You are ultimately responsible for any court costs assessed in your case, including those incurred by the opposing party. We work to minimize these costs whenever possible.
What's Your Issue?
All applicants must submit the Application for Legal Services form (including proof of income). You must complete an additional questionnaire for Divorces, Adoptions, Bankruptcies, Breach of Contracts, Name Changes, Power of Attorneys, Successions, and Wills.
